Tighten 1199 Panigale Chain

  1. Hi,

Can anyone provide information on how to tighten the chain on an 1199 Panigale?

There are post online for other models of Ducati bikes but I Have not been able to find clips or instructions for the 1199.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Surely it's the same as any of the SSSA models, loosen hub, rotate it, nip it up & adjust link rod for ride height.

There's a pdf for torque settings in this thread:

  3. I'm ok with the 955 Daytona which needs a special tool to rotate the hub, not seen this carried out on an 1199 though. Any pic's would make it clearer.

  4. Yep. that's the baby. I'll see if the Daytona one fits or find one that does. The toolkit - will check - is under the seat and about the size of a - very small - box of matches so doubt it includes an adjuster.

Oh, latest update is that the chain and sprocket needs replacing as it's shot to pieces!

There goes another £300 as well as the cost of a new rear tyre this morning. The joys of motorcycles :).

To be fair, the 1199 certainly provides many, many smiles to the gallon so I do forgive her being feisty.

  5. Thanks for the advice so far and my chain and sprocket have now been replaced. I've not done many miles as of yet but will provide some images of the AFAM C&S kit and see how it behaves over the next few months.
