Time Belt Noise

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by MultiMan, Jan 25, 2013.

  1. Hi everyone!
I took my MTS 1200 for the 12000km service a couple of weeks ago, and since then i hear a VRrrr noise coming from the Time belts every time the engine revs down at low rpm. The mechanic at the dealer said that its nothing to worry about but if it gets louder i should take it back.
    Any thoughts ?

    Cheers

  2. Main thing is that you have told dealer your concerns and hopefully it's logged. Others will add/confirm - new belts often are more audible as they bed in plus the initial tension might be higher than when you took it in. A different bike but my 750 Elefant has louder belt sound than all my other belt driven bikes yet I have checked all bearings and of course belt tension so have accepted that it's 'the norm' for that bike.

  3. The belt`s are not due to be changed at 12000km.. But did they do a belt inspection? That is not a check point in the service list, but maybe they had the cover`s of.

My bike have made some "wirring" noise from the belts also, since it was new. I changed to the carbon cover`s when the bike had 6500km on it. And everthing looked like new inside there:upyeah:

  4. Cheers Chris.
I will call the dealer and make sure that he noted the issue.
