So just a quick post to introduce myself... I'm James, living just next to Gatwick. I'm the guy who has the honour of being the next owner of @iang27 's beautiful Streetfighter V4 - it arrived today, and wow... it's beautiful. Literally looks brand new. I had planned to take a photo with the obligatory bin tax included, but I hope a video of me wobbling away on a first ride will suffice. It's been... 20 odd years since I last did it... so forgive me if my low speed skills looks like shiite. But it still felt great and the bike is amazing. Even in granny mode with all the power turned to lowest setting I'm fairly near to Boxhill, so will hopefully be able to meet anyone who is south based? Tap me up if there is anything social organised or an opportunity to meet people properly. Would be great to make some Ducati friends. Cheers and nice to meet you all SJ P.s. Note the supportive wife analysis and psycho child noises... that's not clutch
Thanks for the welcome, and apologies for taking so long, I've been lurking for about a month, ever-since I randomly spotted Ian's post. Just didn't want to say anything until I actually had a bike (!) As I mentioned it's been a while, anyone else here Ex Hornet's Nest Members by some random chance ?
A great opportunity for a burnout there, but i guess with tyre price's these days then perhaps not. Welcome.
@XH558 not in granny mode... I could barely get a clean pull away. It's still faster than 90% of what I've ridden before, but won't be doing any burnouts anytime soon. Focusing on getting around roundabouts without crashing first
I think it will hurt Ian more than me to be honest... I feel like I've inherited a huge responsibility to keep it looking mint. I have a terrible reputation here... Honestly. But will do my best. I guess for every scratch and stone chip there will be a story to share and I hope to do that. I do genuinely believe in driving/riding kit the way it was supposed to be hit. But Ian has set me such a high bar of care. My goal right now, honestly is to not get divorced. Be able to ride for 10 miles without binning it at the traffic lights and hopefully meet some like minded individuals.
Give me a few days to get to grips with it, and then if you wanted to meet, let me know. Going to try and get down to Boxhill this weekend... wife dependant... Biggest issue I have now, is she's seen the Ducati accessories and started looking at leathers for girls. I can see a *Second* expensive life decision ahead...
Welcome and enjoy. Keeping it mint is nice, but it is a bike, and was meant to be ridden, which entails certain risks...
One of the best newbie introductions I remember being wobbly on my first ride out on my own I couldn't turn right for ages Left turns only Get yourself familiar with the bike before adding anyone else into the mix Checkout vtwin4fun he has some girlie bits for sale The rubbish bin pic can wait till your confidence grows Welcome into our mad house
You could maybe do with an instructor like @Android853sp to come out with you and give constructive feedback and to follow (I think that's what he does) Just a thought
