We'll have muddled over selling the much loved 996 for a while, ads in print but never any real drive to shift her on. Now I am tinkering with getting an 848 evo to replace the 996. I love the 996 it's a bip 1999 model that has had a lot of tlc and money spent on her but now I find that if I put slipper clutch and quick shifter on it's another large lump to add to her in an effort to ' bring her up to date' The real question is would it be worth it? Doubt I would get a decent Px off a dealer ?. Hmmm more track days beckon and something a little more 'today' beckons...erm maybe Any thoughts from the learned forum embers?
Any more investment in that is money down the khazi. If you want seconds off the lap time something a bit more recent is called for. There's 15 years of development you could have.
I wouldn't class spending on a slipper clutch for a 996 money down the khazi. You can always sell slipper clutches/quick shifters on forums or ebay when finished with it There is a seller on ebay with new discount STM slippers 6 spring/evoluzione diaphram spring in both 12/48T sets.A well ridden 996 will still wipe the floor with the competition. I made a similar move three years ago, I had a 916 sps [996] and started to get back into trackdays. In the back of my mind I knew the old girls time was nearly up and a younger model was on the cards, I changed her for a 1098 and have never looked back. I have posted earlier today on the What have you done today thread re a mate visiting on his 916, when you see the bikes side by side things have moved on an awful long way. Go for it
