Well I think the time is here ...or at least very close to move from a sports bike to a " Street Fighter", I'm 56 ..really enjoyed my 749 ..especially the noise, seat height(I'm only 5'6)the grunt and reliability .....wont miss.... the mirrors and the side stand though.... Sooooooooo ... am of to Coventry tomorrow to ride a 1200 Monster and see if I can enjoy it as much as the 749 . (will be there around 2.00 if anyone's about ..) Will have to be seriously good for me to swop ........tempted by the MT10 too :fearscream: Mike
MT10 mototransformer I got slightly higher clipons on 999. Makes a lot of difference. I am thinking sf848 or the new 939SS when my body says no.
I'm a 749 owner and have ridden a Monster 1200s... I'd swap in a heartbeat. The Monster is mega, and they *are* seriously good. The rider-modes are ace and the real-world performance, riding position and natural loon-limiter (no fairing) all add up to a huge amount of fun. Worth getting one with Termis and Ohlins as the base-spec is a cool bike but the trinkets make it. Have fun either way, can't beat bike shopping!
ok .......a brief update ..."I LOVE NEW BIKE HUNTING !!!!".....Soo ...went to Coventry yesterday had a really positive ride on 1200s ....NO ...that's an understatement ... A really AWESOME!! ride on the 1200s ...absolutely loved it .Pulled like a train ..stopped on a dime.. and all the other motoring cliché's I can think of .After some research I saw some riders having minor issues with the foot peg on the right ( heat shield a tad close ) but even on my toes it wasn't an issue to worry about . the standard can sounded really throaty ...burbling and popping on heavy deceleration .... really cool .. Looks like it will be a 1200 non S but I really don't think the extra 10bhp and ohlins are goin to be an issue at my age Well the upshot is .... when can I pick it up ???
Well a week on and other than the windy ride back from Coventry , view finally got chance to ride my new toy ....the suns out so venturing off into the beautiful Welsh country side ....the bike is fantastic to ride. ..comfortable ..powerful ...and I can use my mirrors !! ( a novelty after the 749 ) ....130 miles later back home , numb glutes but still got a huge grin on my face .....what now ?? ........same again tomorrow I hope ! .....
Have to admit I'm not a fan of the later styling, S4RS for me but great that you've made such a change in in style and you like it so much, not sure I'd be that brave to be honest. ENJOY!
Thanks bud ... It was the way it rides that appealed to me , the aesthetics were secondary ...but I have to say the way it looks is growing on me . Thanks for the comments tho
Guys, just to finish my say ...A HUGE thanks to Dave Reilly at Coventry , he is a top bloke and was very professional and patient with me ( answering my stupid mundane questions) ...its a fair trek from me but well worth the effort ....cant recommend him/them enough ...
