'Tis the season for twinkleing lights ...but on the dashboard?

  1. My Bip suddenly displayed a yellow engine management system light the other day.

Of course I assumed it was the low fuel light...

Bit surprised when it only took £10 of fuel - and , of course, came on again when I restarted.

After a 3 mile journey I stopped for 1/2 an hour - on restart no light... when I hit the main road and increased revs a minute later...back it came on again.

First thought , Ducati electrical connections and the fact it has not been used for about 10 days.

Spoke to Dave Robinson at Wandsworth , his first question was - "is it running alright?"..."Perfectly" I answered ..

Then he told me not to worry about it as it could be clutch cable indicator (?) or a host of minor things.

Of course it;s a yellow not a red light - more for information than danger...

    Any thoughts?

  2. Don't the bips have a hydraulic clutch?

All my mono electrical problems and there were many were due to the loom getting caught against a bracket in the headstock which started cutting cables. Problems mounted as more went. A bit of solder and a new sleeve sorted everything in one go.

  3. Rather than trying to guess what the problem is, you need to get the bike connected to a diagnostic (JPDiag or Guzzidiag would do the trick). That would give you the EOBD code for the problem. I'm not aware of a routine to bring the codes up on the dash for the SC.

The starter/fuel pump/coil relay is always worth a check as these cause no end of EOBD problems due to corrosion. They are cheap as chips off eBay 4 Pin 'Normally Open' contact MICRO Relay - 20A | eBay

  4. Are there any fault codes or is your bike so old its just a tumbler display
