Hi guys managed to track down a 50mm system tonight for my 996, however the silencers have a few light marks on them is there a nice process to help save them? they always look a brushed type finish, any help would be great,
Some pictures of the marks might help people suggest a remedy. Have you looked into a sleeve kit from termi. I know it’s something you could do a few years back, not 100% sure about now
It's the way Ti sheet looks when it's new of the roller. I don't know of a way to replicate that. Vapour blasting the sleeves would give a uniform satin finish. That's probably the closest you'll get.
Olly, maybe call this fella for advice MHP Exhausts | Specialists of Motorcycle Exhausts and Race Silencers the owner is called Mark Hill. He makes cans including some 54mm Ti ones for tuned 916/996s that were sold under the JHP brand. If you are after a new look he can refurbish them for you with new sleeves and packing. Top quality work, he may be able to reveal what they do on the refurbs where the sleeve is retained
Scotchbrite. Might sound scary but here's my titanium bike before: And after: Literally just Scotchbrite, you need to replicate the direction of the brushed finish and brush straight. Titanium will then re-oxidise and the "light" area you just brushed will match the rest soon enough. Cleaning Ti with GT-85 / WD-40 seems to do the trick. Did my own Ti cans too... (and yes the straps have since been straightened)
