Had a 899panigale for the day for a little play about on. First the positives: it's a lot easier to handle, mainly as it feels tiny. The engine is ALOT smoother so is the gearbox and with the quick shifter it's sublime, plus it has a gear indicator. You don't get battered from the wind, doing over 100 feels like doing 70 on the sp. The negatives, it's bloody uncomfortable, the seat gets unbearably hot for some reason, no single sided swing arm, the price, and most important it was no way near as much fun as my hyper, I think I'll keep the sp for a while longer
One of the main reasons I bought the hyper was because I got a bit of a battering from the wind. Wanted to reduce the chances of getting banned, atleast I now know when I'm doing over 100
I have a 748R and a Hyper 821 I've had the R for 12 years and love it it's a keeper. I'm enjoying the high upright riding position of the Hyper and as others have said anything over 90mph and you feel it. Still can't get over how good it is
Yeah you need both :grimacing: I have a 1299 and a hyperstrada (wish I'd got the hyper SP in hindsight) ... Both great bikes. The 899 gets hot under the seat as one of the exhaust pipes coils under there. You can wrap heat shield stuff around it but I like the warmth.
Can't say I've ever noticed my 899 getting hot, not to the degree that people say anyway.. And I've sat in traffic for some time on it.
