Has anyone used (or heard of) this company on ebay italy - AMMORTIZZATORE POST. "SHOCK" DUCATI 748 / 916 / 996 SHOWA | eBay £120 for a brand new shock, does that seem too cheap to be true? Does this unit come with the spring i assume? Was going to service mine but works out about the same price! Cheers
Looks genuine, he's got good feedback and you'd be covered by Paypal anyway so I'd say it's a good deal. As you say servicing an old one would cost similar and a used one would likely need servicing anyway.
Don't see anywhere in the uk that has them for that sort of price, I assume they usually come with the spring included?
Well, I would assume that it comes as shown & described as new so I would expect a complete, new Showa shock, plus the part no. he quotes is the Ducati part no. for a complete shock as per the 916 parts catalogue. Anything less would be fraudulent so you could get a refund through Paypal anyway...
Thanks, have also found a good deal on an Ohlins shock, just need to decide if it's worth the extra cash now...
Every cloud has a silver lining... When it's time to replace, I like to think of it as a good time to upgrade, especially if you always wanted better anyway. That way I don't feel miffed at having paid good money just to get back the same as what I had, but the decision is yours... You know it makes sense.
Bollocks, I paid £200 for a spankers one and thought I had a good deal, £400 retail apparently. As already said if you pay through paypal/credit card you should be covered, but I would definitely ask the seller to send recorded/signed for, as things in Italian post offices DO have a tendency to go missing. Seems pretty straight otherwise.
Thanks for the replies, much appreciated. Not a huge fan of ordering from abroad so need to have a think, can get a brand new Ohlins for £500 from a guy 5 miles away, plus 80 to fit much better?
£80 quid to fit. 'kin ell. Having said that if you haven't got a suitable stand it can be a pita. I'd rather spend the £80 quid + a bit extra and buy an abba stand and do it myself. It's not difficult Sam, straightforward enough, but understand if you haven't the time or are a little intimidated by it.
