950 Torque Setting Help

  1. Don't shout, but anyone know the torque settings for handlebar clamp?

Fitting oem bar risers and my manual is at home and the internet isn't helping, so thought the knowledgeable here would help.

    3, 2, 1...

  2. I have a 1200 monster but assuming the screws are the same size (M8x1.25) then I'd assume the torque settings will be the same. However, this is to get you out of a hole and I wouldn't blame you for waiting for advice from someone with the same bike as you.

This is from the Monster workshop manual:

Apply the specified product to screws (6).
Refit the U-bolt (7) and insert the screws (6).
    Tighten the screws (6) to a torque of 25Nm ± 5%, following a 1–2–3–4–3 sequence.

I hope it's useful to you.

  3. Thanks very much, back home and still can't find them, but read previously about the sequence and made a decision to tighten to 22Nm with a dab of threadlock, so think I shall leave it at that

  4. I actually thought I'd attached a picture with that post but it doesn't appear to have uploaded. Sorry about that.

I think it was 25Nm with grease rather than thredlock. If the screw is going into alloy then the grease may have something to do with mitigating sacrificial corrosion. However, there are far more knowledgable Joes than me on this site. Hopefully one of them will chip in.

  5. I think how I've ended up will suffice, but I threadlock everything and a touch of grease too.

I'll have them checked over next time I pop into the dealers.
