748 Torque Settings/brake Callipers

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by RoadRunner, May 12, 2024.

  1. Hi more knowledgeable people,
Could someone kindly confirm the follow torque settings for:

    1) The 2 10x1.25mm screws that bolt the calliper to bottom of fork leg
    2) The 4 bolts that hold both sides of the Brembo calliper together (replacing with stainless).

I do have the torque sheets but cannot find the latter on it and don't want to overtighten the former!
Might have gone word blind in this heat?
Also, last stupid Q: which item/pin is the "Calliper Holder Plate Pin"?? On the sheet its described as that and being 12x1.25mm? Just wish the sheet came with a diagram!

The bike is a 2000 748 but unsure how original it is....:(
    TIA

  2. They should be in here:

    1) Front Brake Caliper Screw 40-45 (plus grease)
    2) No idea, what size are the threads?

  3. These are not in the manual, they are 32Nm with blue loctite. However I bought replacement stainless for mine (from a reputable seller) and the allen heads rounded off before the 32Nm was reached. Ended up buying titanium which was expensive but actually worked.;)

  4. I don't believe that the workshop manual provides any data for disassembling the brake calipers.

  8. Thanks Expat Jack, I'll look forward to extracting the old ones - poor bike sat under a tarpaulin for 2 years before I rescued it....and most screws/bolts are in poor condition. Drilled out several already.....

  9. Any ideas on what this refers to?
"Calliper Holder Plate Pin" On the torque sheet its described as that and being 12x1.25mm

  10. Brake pad pin(s) at a guess? Bit weird probably lost in translation.
