Would be very grateful to know the torque settings for 749s fork clamp bolts upper and lower,& clip on's please. I have the workshop manual on C.D but can't find them there ( could have sworn I have seen them and used them in the past but just can't seem to find them now) And could do with a reminder of the correct sequence of tightening the fasteners when refitting the front wheel. I thought it was fit the wheel spindle, tighten the r.h.s lower fork clamp bolts to 19Nm using (1-2-1sequence) And then pump the forks up and down to allow the various bits to settle. Then tighten the l.h.s lower fork clamp bolts in (1-2-1 sequence) Finally tighten the wheel spindle nut to 63Nm. All advice appreciated.
Many thanks Shaun. I spent ages looking on my computer for that. I was convinced it was there somewhere as I have used it several times. Think I need a check up from the neck up! No reference to the torque for the screw for the clip on's though!
I think you are correct Dukedesmo. The 25Nm is very close to the 23Nm specified for the top yoke! Hope I can get my torque wrench in the small space , without removing the nosecone, hate doing that as it's such a p.i.a to refit the mirrors! Many thanks for that.
All the torque settings are in the specifications section, would make sense to have them at the beginning of each section though. Italian logic? Duke
I agree, spent ages looking for them. 25Nm still seems very tight for the clip -on, I tightened the M8 screw by hand to what I thought was about right, then went up in small increments until I reached the specified 25 Nm and was convinced it was about to strip!
