I have a Hyper 1100 (09) with an extended range fuel tank so can outdo a Multi before I need to refuel - I have recently spent a day in the Swiss Alps on a hire bike which was absolutely awesome but if I go back next year would want to use my Hyper. My bike has a high level single Termi Full System - side panniers I guess ruled out. I am considering what would be the best option in terms of luggage without detracting too much from the looks of the bike, hence the Givi Top Box does nothing for me. Advice welcome (not get a Multi with panniers etc as standard). Cheers Moses.
Simples. Kriega luggage. Bombproof, waterproof & rock solid. I used 20 + 10 ltr. You can fit 2 x 10's to a 20 and they are solid. No brainer. 10 days I packed what i needed in. Threw away smalls and socks as I went each day after a shower. Link here, shop around Bike packs - Kriega (my old 749s)
I've had two bikes with panniers and, quite frankly they're overrated, they weigh a ton and do nothing but upset the handling. Any decent tailpack will do the job.
Another vote for Kriega from me (I use it on my 696: 2 x US10s and a US20 served me well on my WDW trip last year). The other popular alternative for Ducatis with high exhaust pipes which make panniers a no go is the Ventura rack system - tailpacks in a variety of sizes on a metal framework which stays bolted to the bike (with the option of replacing the luggage rack with a pillion grab handle).
Just fitted the ducati panniers to my wife's monster 796 and have got to say they look and fit really well. I would put a picture up but for some reason, even when I reduce it in size it won't let me.
I was going to get a ventura luggage rack, as have heard great reports - however, as I have underseat Terms, and they are oval as oppose to round like the origionals, the rack wouldn't fit - however this shouldn't be an issue for you. I do have a kruga rucksack, and agree their kit is awesome. Of course, with my underseat pipes, I can use oxford throwove panniers.
