Touring On A V4s

  1. Anyone tour their V4 ST?
I find the ergonomics really comfortable, i could do some serious milage.
Thinking of the NC500 next year, loading the ST in the back of the van, driving up there and doing the loop.
Obvs there are some short comings to the ST, MPG, lack of cruise control, luggage options, etc.
So looking for tips, tricks, options from those that have done it/similar

  2. Plan your fuel stops very very carefully. I was up there with a group in May and had a couple of worrying moments due to lack of fuel and that’s in a Multi V4S.

The first was because a fuel station which was supposed to be open wasn’t, we had to wait an hour or so before the owner very kindly opened it for us.

The second was because the ferry we’d planned to get where there was fuel on the other side was full and we couldn’t get it which involved a 20+km run back over my route with 6km of fuel showing when we’d arrived at the ferry. Just made and breathed a huge sigh of relief.

Many fuel stations only sell diesel.

  3. Find a way of strapping a petrol container to it. It would be a lovely bike for 'spiriting' touring but the range would take the shine off it.

  4. TBH my biggest gripe is the lack of cruise control, anyone tried any of the options? the Kaoko or the Altlas?

  5. Rode a lap of Spain on mine. No problem in a country with plenty of petrol stations. Light on at around 90 miles, bike ok for another 30 after that. Only had a squeaky bum once. Hepco and Becker c-bow panniers work very well on this bike.
