Hello there, I am a tourist from New Zealand planning on buying a MS1200 in UK to tour UK and EU for six months (40~50 thousand k's) and then exporting the MS back home to New Zealand. Can anyone recommend a good Ducati dealer in UK? It will be my first Ducati. Coming from a Honda camp of XX's and 900 Hornets. I hope the MS will last the mileage I hope to do. (30'000 miles) Thanks Felix
Personally, i would go to JHP Ducati Coventry in the first instance. There are other good people that i'm sure others will recommend and i sure they will look after you as well.
Where are you going to be staying when you come over. We can point you to the nearest good dealership. Hope you have a great time and get to meet some of us. Regards Steve
Same as Desmoboy, Ducati Coventry ask to speak to Dave. They are in the middle of the UK and have a good reputation. Others I am sure will have their opinion. would go for one that still has a warranty running for the period of your trip...... Just in case
Thanks for the replies, I will be based from Welwyn Garden City or Cambridge. Will be flying in via Gatwick or Heathrow. Some mentioned CMW motorcycles in Chichester, West Sussex. and others ProTwins in Godstone, Surrey. Both being quite close to Gatwick airport. Anyone knows anything about them? Will be getting a new bike, so 2 year warranty is a must. (still, won't want to have a bike being fixed under warranty for a month while I sit there wondering what to do with myself)
Protwins took care of my s2r when i lived in the uk. Was very happy with them, so didnt go anywhere else. Sounds like an awesome time you have comming
I live smack in the middle of those two destinations and i can tell you there is no one i would trust around here.
I just bought my 2013 multi s touring with top box. Free service And other goodies cheaper than anywhere in the south. Ducati Aylesbury. Ask for Steve. Pm me if your interested and ill give you the full price break down.
Bottom of M3 there is Motor Rapido or a little further inland WM Snells. Both great dealers. Reading probably closest tho, and guessing after sales not as important as cheap price...a few seem to have had a good deal from Aylesbury recently
If your based in Welwyn then Coventry is only about an hour's drive away and has to be given serious consideration as a qualty dealer with reputation to match. Pro Twins and Moto Rapido also have good reputations but are certainly no closer. You could also look at Snells a family run concern favoured by many.
Ducati Leeds, UK dealer of the year 2012. Speak to Paul. They are about 10 miles from Leeds Bradford Airport. You can then ride around North Yorkshire Dales and up to the highlands to run her in!
Go and have a Scottish Tour and visit Ducati Glasgow, Martin, Blair, Kerrie, Tracy, Harry and George with the service team are A1 +++++++++, can not speak highly enough, and no I'm not on commission.....
Fly into Heathrow and I'll give you a lift straight to West London Ducati near me London Ducati . It doesn't matter where you buy it because it will have a warranty. Knock out the initial miles on a day trip from here and get her serviced the next day or the day after then set off on your adventures. The chances are that you will be getting the remaining service work done at random dealers around the UK anyway so suss each one out as the time/mileage dictates. Tony
I would highly recommend Metropolis Barnet in North London. They have just changed from a Honda dealer to Ducati (with a new showroom) and they know their stuff. Chat to Mike there (there are only 2 people who work there and he always answers the phone) I just got a 2nd hand 2011 from there and could not recommend them highly enough.
Are you already here Felix? My advice would be to shop around. You're only buying and then moving on. No need for a "Good" Dealer who will service and look after you long term. As you're buying new, there's no issue with condition etc.. I would email all of them (or at least all those in ? mile radius) and explain what your after. You could play them off against each other until you get the best deal. Nowhere in the UK is too far to get to to pick-up. If you need a hand when it comes to picking up, I'm sure someone on here would give you a lift. I would.
Felix, Can I ask you a question? How are you getting insurance? As a non-UK resident, UK companies typically won't touch someone. I'm curious if you've found some other way round this as I have mates who've stumbled on this point before. Cheers, FBB
Hello all, thanks for all the tips and recommendations. I have found ProTwins near Gatwick to be very good to deal with so far. Easy for me to hop off plane and hop on bike. I have deposited on a 2013 MTS 1200. Looking forward to riding it in May. I hope it all goes well (oppose to what Paul says). FBB, I have an address in UK. Cheers
