Any guys with track fairings on your panigale, which make would you'd say fitted the best? Is it easy enough too change them back and fore to road gear? Any advice on track fairings from guys in the know much appreciated Cheers
Ducati Performance ones are a direct copy of the stock ones without paint. They come with all the light and electrical blanks. It takes a good few hours to change back and forth between them unfortunately. I stopped using them due to this and have moved to full track fairings as they are so much better and quicker to remove at the track, again though its the same situation going back to stock. Light units are horrifically expensive ( ~£650) so you definitely don't want to leave them in there for convenience.
Thanks mate, full track fairings, which make do you have and how much were they if you don't mind me asking? Thanks
I've got the carbon fibre full six ones. I got them from Moto Rapido when they were selling them off of their race bike last year. They are one piece on the sides which is cool because you can have the whole bodywork off in a couple of minutes if you use Dsuz clips. They are expensive if you crash ( about £1200 ish for just the bare fairings , I found out ) but super high quality and sexy, especially with a good paint job. www.motoxpricambi.com in italy are quite popular because they can come fully painted with all the bits and bobs you need on the 1299 such as IMU bracket. A few people on here have said good things about them although my friend who has them says the quality is not great and he wouldn't use them again. At around £7-800 I think it's just getting what you pay for though as they are quite good value considering most of what you need is included. Ducati Performance are actually the best price at only £500 including all the light blanks and connectors so you know you have everything needed. You just need to spend either a couple hundred on a cheap trackday paint job or a few hundred extra on a better one. Not great if you need to swap back and forth as mentioned earlier though. Sorry not all that great advice but hopefully it's useful and someone can give you some more options.
That's great, Thanks! I was thinking on just getting the ducati performance ones, maybe even try a wrap on them instead of paint, I'm not sure on that though! Cheers again for your help
I'd go DP and they come with all the light blanks etc. As I'm just using the Pani for track at the moment I'm not that bothered about speed of changeover though agree with Royal that they could be a pain if constantly swapping between road and track. These are mine and is a wrap with DP sticker kit.
It's looking really nice, how do you find the wrap? I Was going for a wrap as Well, have any of you's got a tank cover as Well?
That looks really nice @SimonT, great job with the wrap as they're not easy to get right. I spent most of a day doing just the tricolour stripes and tail on mine.
Wrapped DP fairings in a charcoal grey, this was at donington last week but need to get the tank done too, or go the cover route. Maybe a fibreglass one and wrap it or a carbon one? Not to many about tho
It looks good Lyndon, would the tank need covered up with like gaffa tape, before putting a cover on too prevent scratching underneath?
Yeah couple of mates have put like a double sided adhesive foam to help the protection, but something for sure makes sense, if I do it will put some photos up off the stuff, so long as it works and doesn't damage tank haha
I had the wrap done professionally but in hindsight a single colour spray job would probably have been cheaper. I applied the stickers myself, probably an hour or two. The tank is a standard R tank.
@Sam1199S put masking tape over his tank before attaching the cover and it worked very well. I stripped the bike last weekend after his crash and was surprised that whilst the tank is badly damaged the paintwork was not even cracked.
I went for the DP ones for fit and (surprisingly) price. They are more trackday fairings than race, but perfect if you want to keep your road ones safe. I had mine wrapped (£250) and had a brushed Ali wrap on the tank for £80.
It was done in 3 pieces to make the grain work, but saves the paint and really finishes the look (I hate it when the tank is left out).
