Traction Control 1098r Vs 1198?

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by bootsam, Dec 28, 2013.

  1. Is there a difference? If so what? Can it be put on a 'normal' bike like an 1198 to replace the bog standard yet crude TC the 1198 has?

Yes I know a Bazzazz or Nemesis is better, probably cheaper and less hassle too.

  2. The 1098R system simply cuts the spark whereas the 1198 version is less crude in that it moderates the fuelling before cutting the spark

  3. You mean.......

.....the 1198 tc is actually better?

    Thanks.

  4. Correct...Turn it off....

  5. Luddite.

Get back to your abacus and try and post to this thread.

Besides. Its a gadget. However meaningless it may actually be. Nothing can take away the fact that its a gadget. On that point alone. I raise you one QED. We are not all track gods and some may appreciate the help. However much a placebo it is.

  6. A mate of mine has just had the Nemesis fitted to his track only 1098R, says the original one was not very good.

I am going to fit one to my 1190 KTM TRACK.

Not being a MotoVudu god and having 2 kids ( and besides the point that todays modern sports bikes are so f@@@@g powerful) justifies the 'investment'.

I was 'bitten' by a highside earlier this year and one crash pays for it.....

  7. nemesis is a good system. Motec too

  8. plus you can take it off and sell it later.

  9. I know a guy with a Nemesis on a 1098R (09) and he says it makes quite a difference in a good way though.

  10. I was in my old local chatting to the owners of;
    Competition Systems

over Christmas, they were fairly damming of the cut the spark approach, especially on V2/Ducati.

  11. Tell me people, I've got the Nemesis slapped on the dash of my 1098R track bike. Does this interface or refine the existing TC that comes with the 1098R??
I've heard the 1098R TC is as rough as a badgers. I've set mine at 2 or 3 (lightly intrusive) and it feels weird when it comes in, but not too abrupt like I've read about.
And I've never had the balls to whack the throttle open whilst knee down. . . . Its a leap of faith my brain can't calibrate.

  12. I have just ordered the Nemesis system from Mick at Bike Sport Developpements for the KTM.

The system is plug and play.

    Will keep you posted!

  13. I've been looking into this, and a lot of good reviews for Gripone and IRC Pro. About half the cost of Nemesis but works off wheel sensors and seem very customisable, incl launch control and changes on the go

  14. Can it do the pit-lane limiter?

I want one of those, just for the noise!

  15. Yes. And anti-wheelie. And about £800 :upyeah:

  16. Mate has the Bazzazz and its the nuts. Apparently.

  17. Wouldnt touch one after the reading i've done, seems very tough to set up

  18. Received my Nemesis today from Mick at Bikesport Developments.

So far very good service. Spoke to Mick following recommendations, ordered last Thursday, he prepped it as promised and shipped by Tuesday and delivered to the South of France by Thursday..... cannot complain.

First comments is that everything looks very well made, professional race standards IMHO. I have had a few race bikes. The instructions look very clear also.

Step one Open box like a kid on Christmas day morning

Step 2 strip body work off bike

    Step 3

Go and have a couple of beers as it is friday night and 10 minutes work is quite enough after 9PM

I know its not a Ducati but still it's a bike with 2 cylinders and I have kept my 999.

I will get it fitted over the next few days and keep you posted.....
