So, bike runs fine, had a slick fitted lunchtime, now the DTC cuts in under power on the straight, nowhere else, was set to 4, dropped to 2, no change, turned it off, seems ok. Was running a semi slick and that ran perfect with DTC on 4, occasionally cutting in but could not feel it ( light coming on) now it kangaroos down the straight unless DTC is off, any ideas? It's a 2012 1199 pani. Could I have damaged the sensor taking the wheel off, can't fit wheel incorrectly? Bike runs fine otherwise
Slightly different circumference sizes between fr/rr tyres now with slicks, so differing wheel speeds "fooling" ECU into thinking it's wheel slip???
2012 Pani? Does it have the tyre calibration feature? NZdave might have a point. Run a re calibration if you can.
It doesn't have a calibration mode, I think, but I've just found a post that implies the tyre size may be an issue....
Also check the front abs ring isn't damaged , I've seen on other bikes they can bend, plays havoc with abs and tc systems
i'm going with a slightly different rolling circumference. it happened when i had tyres fitted on my 848. i doubt you have damaged a sensor or you would have a permanent fault. there is the possibility that the gap between the tone ring and sensor has changed for some reason or another when the wheels were removed.
Unless you have damaged the sensor ring or sensor I would have it down as mismatch on the tyre rolling circumference. Saying that I have just fitted a 195/660 (!?) Dunlop instead of a 200/55 Michelin slick and the traction control is ok. Set at 2 on an 1199
So, hopefully fixed, back out in 40 mins to confirm: Tyre guy fitted the tyre wrong way round, I fitted the wheel using the tyre rotation, traction control sensor on wrong side ♂️
That's what happens when you trust someone else, watched him fit the tyre and check rotation on the tyre
Good news Ivor! Always best to check, I had a rear tyre fitted at Jerez a few years ago and just assumed it was ok and nearly highside turn one! Limped back and he hadn’t seated the tyre on the rim properly! Scared the crap out of me!, always check now
We know your at Laguna with NL whose doing the tyres out there ,can’t beat Washy as he is ace. Glad you fixed it but Dibble is there on his 1199 as a marker.
