Translogic Powershift

  1. No experience of it, but a bit concerning that it states if using for touring then a second unit should be bought in case of a breakdown. Nice idea though if knee, leg or ankle issues.

  2. Why stop at two? If the second unit stops working, then you will need a spare, so buy three. In fact, what if the third unit stops working, then you should buy four, etc, etc,etc . . . .

  3. At about £1000 each, I think I'd give up after 2

  4. That's exactly why I''m thinking of fitting one. I've had a below knee amputation of my left leg. There are 2 possible push button fitments Kliktronic and Translogic. I can get a Kliktronic VAT free because of my disability but the solenoid weighs a ton (2kg) and is not easily fitted to either my Supersport 939 or my Scrambler. The Translogic is a fraction of the weight at 350g and looks to be relatively easy to fit. It will cost a lot more but that's irrelevant to me.

  5. Does look a clever piece of kit.

  6. I hadn’t seen these before, and from the link, that looks like a lovely example of well thought through engineering. They aren’t going to sell thousands of these, so to me, whilst hefty, the price tag isn’t outrageous to give back the freedom to ride which was unfortunately affected by a physical element that unmodified bikes weren’t designed for. If I was in the position to need one, I would be wanting a test ride on an equipped bike to convince me to part with the folding.

  7. There is almost certainly no chance of me ever getting a test ride so I'm trying to find out if anyone has any experience with them. They are designed primarily for race and track use, not an aid for disability but that is an obvious possibility.

  8. Bit of a long shot, but is it worth getting in contact with True Heroes BSB team (assuming they are still competing this year) they may have that set up on something, or know of somebody that does.

  9. I'm not a aware of them, I haven't been following BSB racing but I'll check them out.
This Facebook page shows a video of the Powershift in operation, I think I would be making the the mount more rigid. you can see it flex.

  10. I remember Moto Rapido converting a bike (not sure which one) for a customer in a similar situation. Giving them a ring might get you some advice but I know the conversion pre dates the current workshop manager, Nick. He might have to talk to Baz in the workshop. Andy

  11. That's a surprising amount of flex. Seems to be in the footpeg bracket itself, so it'll be hard to fix.

Have you considered the MT09 Y-AMT?

  12. There's also the Honda NC00XT and the Aprilia Mana and a few others but I'd rather stick with the Ducati I like and I'm used to.
