Hi guys, When traveling aboard does one have to mask out the headlights such as on a car? Dont want to unnecessarily blind our continental neighbours with the powerhouse of multistrada headlights! Cheers.
I have been abroad a few times on different bikes and never done anything to mine, dont know exactly though
Done Europe dozens of times but never did anything with the headlight. I do know that the BMW GTL 1600 has an option for LH or RH side of road driving so I guess legally there must be something you should do.
The Multi lights are 'neutral' so don't fall to either side I think. My K1600 GTL e light auto set to the other side of the road as it was linked to the BMW nav unit n as soon as it realised it was in France, it moved the light..quite clever really
It depends on the bike. The Multi has a flat cut-off and needs nothing doing. On my previous bike, an ST4s, the beam kicked up the left and theoretically needed to be 'converted'. I didn't bother and nobody complained.
I've recently moved over to Sweden, and the beams needed to be swung to get through local MOT type test. Its only a 5 min job though, tweaking the adjusters.
When I drive to the Alps I always ensure headlights are masked or set for driving on the right as its winter and most of the driving is in the dark. When I ride, its in the summer and I never bother as Im unlikely to drive much at night.
Legally I'm pretty sure you don't need to do anything on a bike. In theory you should alter the beam pattern on a car but I think bikes slip through the net. No-one bothers anyway, so don't worry about it.
As above and most Ducati headlights are so shit it really cannot be a problem, I wish I had a headlight strong enough to upset people .
Iv been all over europe on different bikes, never an issue. It would be v rare you'd be out late anyway ( unless is p***ing rain and youve a 4 hr drive across the mountains from Stelvio pass on a sportsbike...laughing now, but then, we werent.) rock n roll....ride it on....
