  1. if you mod your bike, at what point is it no longer the bike you started with.

only major unchanged bits on my bike (from when i got it) are the frame, yokes, tank, ECU, Exhaust, seat unit, airbox and throttle bodies and wiring. the wheels are original but a different colour....

  2. If you can build another bike from the parts you have removed its no longer the bike you started with... but the new one will be!:upyeah:

  3. I still retain all my oem parts for my 916 although I am beginning to wonder why. I might track bike it. Its only a bip.

  4. Its "only" a bip ? wtf?:punch:

  5. that's exactly what i've done..i've tracked mine as otherwise i'd never use it. everything has been changed/upgraded for track. i have all the original bits and keep toying with selling them, but one day when i stop riding it on track i might want to put it back to standard and then sit back and look at it!

  6. I'd never sell OE bits. That's what the big cardboard box in the garage is for. Having them, even if not fitted, keeps the resale value up especially for out of production bikes.
That said, if you buy a second hand bike it isn't yours, its someone else's and the more you mod it the more you put your ownership on it and the more personal it becomes.

  7. When you have to change the frame. Everything else is just evolution

  8. The only original parts on my build are the tank, rear caliper, subframe and oil cooler. Oh and the seat pins and rubber retainer
