  1. I've had the 4s for 6 years this month, the longest I've ever kept a bike. It is just about to roll over 50,000 miles and I've no plans to get rid of it any time soon.

But with the horrible weather over the last few weeks, I've been hypersensitive to the handling and grip.

I've got decent Pirelli Diablo tyres, EBC HH pads and new Blackshadow wavy discs, so all is good in braking department and yet, it felt loose and vague at low speeds to steer, which is very unnerving in the wet.

I played with tyres pressures and thought that the sportier tyre wasn't up to the job as I previously had Roadsmarts and before that Diablo Stradas.

Then I checked the torque on the steering stem nut this morning and it was quite far off spec.

Funnily enough, the first thing I thought of when I noticed the effect was to check the torque on that very nut.

So, the lesson is, when you know the bike, and you feel something is up, don't delay, don't ride around it, spend a few minutes checking it out.:upyeah:

Don't spend two weeks battling shite conditions with a problem when you know what the problem is.

    Like I did.
