Twin headlights Dip and Main

Discussion in 'Supersport (1974-2007)' started by Ghost Rider, May 21, 2012.

  1. Just fitted one of the twin headlight noses and the half fairing for the hell of it......

I forgot to check the square headlight dip and main beams to see if they switch over or if dip stays on when main beam comes on.....

....they do on the twin headlight fairing unless I wired it wrong!!

  2. Dip stays on. Mine does...

What are these twin headlight fairings you speak of?

  3. Thanks.......

    These........

    AL.

PS.... I had wired it wrong......Dip switches over to Main on mine....

  4. Looks goood M8 :upyeah:

  5. Is that the Powerbronze one? How do you rig the bulbs as the fastening frame for them are different? Was considering one of those but impossible to track down!

  6. I doubt it is a Powerbronze one, but.....maybe......

Not sure what you mean about rigging the bulbs...........but.......I found it necessary to modify this one because the lamp unit plastic was damaged, however I repaired it (well) and it is now attached to the fairing so adjustment is simple.......the black housing for the standard lamp stays in place on the bike...

But....I also have the remains of the proper frame the previous owner of the twin headlight nose fairing had bodged about (because he had broken the lamp plastic).....

Give me a month and I might dispose of the half fairing and twin nose complete......just wanted to see what it looked like.

Here's the fairing from the inside showing the lamp mounting.....

  7. Hi Al, I'm looking for some of those silencer brackets, any pointers ? I have a pair of lasers to fit to my 944ss.

  8. What's it look like with full fairings?....If you don't fancy the twin....

  9. You mean the twin headlights in a full fairing? Dunno......didn't try that.....

Half fairing looks OK with square headlight though....

  10. I made those (well, a laser cutting machine did).......4mm stainless with a proper bushed grommet...........have you got Autocad?....if you have it's easy to use the file to program the cutter.

If not, I can send you the drawings in jpeg format which if I get it right they will print out to scale.......then you can knock them up in cardboard first to see if they fit (that's what I did.......and they fitted fine in cardboard, but because I changed from 3mm to 4mm stainless when they were made, I had to do some healthy clumps with a lump hammer to get them right.....not on the bike, I stress)

They are quite tight 'in' to the bike with a nice taper to the pair of cans as they go towards the rear of the bike....

  17. Soz, meant twins with fulls! I had the square with half fairings but engine cases are peeling making bike look tatty, so got fulls to cover it up until I sell bike or do an engine rebuild.

  18. Well, I'm not taking the half fairing off and fitting the full fairing just to please you............I only fitted the effin thing today!

Does this give you a clue?
