Tyre Balancing

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by satzoomer, Mar 25, 2014.

  1. Dear All does this seem an excessive amount of lead to balance the wheel?

  2. Not really tbh. Some wheel/tyre combos balance up with less, but I've had to put more weight on before than you have there. The important thing is that it's balanced :)

  3. Cheers Nelly, the Standard Fitment Pirelli Scorpion's had no weights at all on the rim, so was surprised to see this amount to balance it all out

  4. That is only 40 grams there, they do not use lead any more due to legislation. The max allowed guidelines for a motorbike is 60 grams.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  5. Could be that the "heavy" point in the tyre which goes opposite the valve is in the wrong place

  6. Isnt there a dot that is normally lined up?

  7. That's what I was trying to refer to

  8. I will have a look tomorrow and let ya know, the dot should be by the valve ??

  9. Yep think so

  10. Isn't the dot the heavy point, so should be the opposite end to the valve?

  11. He'll soon find out lol

  13. Check where the mark is

  14. Right I've looked at the tyre both sides and no red or green marks which I have seen on other tyres in the picture there are 2 oval marks I pressure these might be what I'm looking for and they're lined up by the valve I may enquire with Micheline
Ps sorry the bikes not been cleaned for a week

  15. Dot next to valve. Michelin don't usually put one though

  16. Typical bloody French - have to be different

  17. Had another bike mot today and the guy at test centre says there is a mark but only visible on inside before fitting

  18. Michelin tyres have a matrix code in the heel of the tyres. Its not visible any more once the tyre is fitted.
The matrix code or the dot belongs near the valve. It is th most heavy point of the tyre.
