Sorry if this has been done to death! I'm now at the point where I have to replace both front and rear tyres, and wondered who have moved away from the Diablo Rosso Corsa and to what effect? I've been happy with Pirellis but what with considering another short tour, I was wondering if anyone has tried and tested something that won't flatten off too quickly, yet still carries a sporty look? TIA, Mark.
I had Dunlop Sportsmarts on mine, the front has a slightly 'flatter' profile when upright which I felt gave the front a really nice secure feeling, wear was really good on the 1k or so I did on them and they offered good grip in the wet. They also come in the 60 profile rear that you need. Otherwise it's the new Diablo Corsa, the SuperCorsa, or I think Michelin Power Evo or whatever they are called. The 60 profile rear does limit options somewhat.
Metzeller M7RR are excellent. I raced on them early in the year when the weather was poor and they hardly look touched. Much more sporty than the Diablos and probably wouldn’t last quite as long so depends how you ride?
Did Snetterton 200 track day today on my ZX10R, This has Michelin Supersport Evo's fitted, I couldn't have asked for a better tyre, Great grip warmed up well on track and exactly the same on the road. Had Michelin Power RS's fitted to my 999 last Saturday, they are meant to edge the Evo's and better them In all aspects, so I would recommend them. They felt much nicer on the road than the Pirelli diablo Corsa's it was wearing before Saturday.
I’ve just fitted a pair of Michelin Power RS to my 899. So far so good. They feel really grippy and heat up pretty quickly.
This might sound odd, but I ignored the majority suggesting the Micheline Power RS (sorry!), remembering I had Dunlops on a gixer a few years ago, and really liked them. That'll in mind, I went for the newer version. They've been reviewed really well and are designed not to square off as much as competitors, having a slightly harder middle compound... Let's see hey?!
