My 996 came fitted with Bridgestone BT014's when I bought it nearly a year ago, they were fairly new I think, still plenty of tread left after 2500 miles but have never felt confident with them, very little feedback and don't feel too grippy! Would be interested to know what other owners would reccomend? My bike doesn't see wet weather unless caught in the rain  and not too fussed about wear.. my old TL used to rip through a rear in about 1200 miles..think I have slowed down a bit since then!!
Metzler Roadtech Z8 Interact, Racetech Interact K3 or be the first to try the new Sportec M7 RR. Andy
I'll second that, I have just put Metz Z8 on my 749s, super feel, best motorad tyre 2012, best wet tyre if you get caught out, Michelin power 3, more of a hit in the pocket, another great confidence building tyre, 3rd Bridgestone T30's, these have really good feel, while Pirelli let go without much warning these give you enough time to react before it's too late, all three are not aggressive v profile so you need to ask them to turn but they won't kick you into a steep turn unless you want them to, when do you need them? Where are you, I may be able to help with a great deal, PM me if you wish, andy
I'll add to that, Metzler, great tyre I used them for the first time last year. They are not cheap but they are good and worth the money.
Pirelli Diablo Rosso corsa, never had any issues with these, not cheap at £140 for the rear but very good
Depends on the rim size. If it's 5.5" definitely the 180/55 but if it's 6" try 190/55 as you might prefer the quicker feel of the turn in. Andy
Am I the only one using Bridgestone R10s? Not amazing when cold, but as good as the old Michelin slicks I used to use when they're up to temp. Don't think for 1 second though that being Bridgestone they'll be they same as the 014s, they aren't.
I run Conti Sport attack's on my 996 there fantastic great in both the wet & the dry & the right money too, They where factory fitment on my Bmw S1000rr & worked really well on that too. I think they dont get raved about because they dont get Raced on ? I always used Supercorsa's but just got fed up of them wearing out so quickly.
Im using these atm, with a 180 rear instead of the 190. I find a 180 rear gives me quicker turn in. They dont feel as grippy as the Avon Azaro SP`s on my R1, but that might be just because im more confident on the R1 than on the 996.
No, I have them on as well, get a scrubbed supply from a racing mate for £70 a pair. I hated the Pirelli Corsas that were on my 916, awful things.........
Had super corsa on the back with Diablo on front. Just bought 2'nd set of corsa rosso's as super corsa takes too much time to warm up and are shit in the wet. Diablo rosso corsa all the way for me. Definitely 180 55 on the back!
Im running Supercorsa's on mine.Used them for a few yrs now.Have found standard ones good SC1/SC2 but SC0 even better ie super soft for grip. I run em all yr round on dry roads no problem.Got my knee down in the wet first time ever using these tyres. Not great on cold winter days but that's a good thing in my book as it makes me take it steady.
I've got Pirelli Dragon Super Corsa Pro’s on my 998. they stick to the road like shit to a blanket....runny shit... Not ideal for the wet or cold, but when I picked my bike up last August I rode home 130 miles and it rained biblically - Noah was gettuing twitchy - and they performed fine on the motorway...not sure if I'd want to push them on the twisties in the rain though
Finally got around to changing the tyres, went for the Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa's, the difference is amazing over the BT014's... only rode home from having them fitted, about 12 miles! At first I thought there was something wrong, the bike steers so differently, tips in so much quicker and steering so much lighter!.... is this normal? Can't say much about the grip yet but anything is going to be better than the mahogany Bridgestones!!
Actually I really like the Bridgestone R10 racing I fitted, transformed it as they were 10 times better than the Pirelli Corpsa's that were on my 916 that tried to kill me 5 or 6 times............... MOT center also commented I now have the right tyres on it......
I need to get some new tyres (note the date, dont think I would trust them), how are you getting on with the Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa's? Interestingly, I see I have a 190, is that right anybody?
