Tyre Sizes

  1. I've recently bought some lighter wheels but put larger tyres on and it turns out my wheels are now heavier than oem. I've noticed going down one size of tyre helps with weight.
    My question is
If my wheel size is 17" x 6" what's the lowest size tyre I can use

  2. I would say a 190 width tyre would be the smallest that should be fitted to a 6" rim. No expert though !!
A 180 width tyre would normally be on a 5-1/2" rim.
If this wheel is a non-standard size though you'd need to check the swing arm clearance too.

  3. I guess a 180 tyre would just about go on but the profile would be all wrong. 190 is the tyre for a 6 inch rim.

  4. What were the original sizes front and rear and what are the larger sizes you now have on your new wheels?
Are the old and new tyres the same brand and type?
