Hoping for some advice from members who use tyre warmers at trackdays. Having bought this 996 as a trackbike (having known the bikes 2 x previous owners) and then invested in some biketek tyre warmers I let my son take it to a trackday (Oulton) where he struggled to get the front tyre warmer to wrap around the front tyre due to the apparent lack of clearance between the front mudguard and tyre. Those white clips that the mudguard fastens to don't seem to be able to be mounted any higher to increase this clearance...am I missing something or is there another mount available that might allow this?
Is the mudguard an after market job? It does indeed look tight. I'd check if another mudguard (maybe bite the bullet and get a DP one) gives better clearance. Also BikeTek warmers are quite chunky which wont be helping. I use Capit which are thinner but again, dearer.
Sorry to say it is common for an after market carbon mudguard to not give you enough clearance for tyre warmers. Had exactly the same issue which went away when I picked up a second hand OE mudguard. As Mary Hinge says, warmers vary in thickness from manufacturer to manufacturer. Andy
OE is best and even then a tight fit. I can just about get a set of tyre warmers to go on my bike and then only in one direction or it will snag.
Neither of those options are practical (or possible) Bradders but after a bit of 'fettling' last night I managed to find a solution that works I also had to 're-melt' some captive nuts into the white plastic clamps and the brackets/fixings will be tidied up once I've tried it out properly
Had the same issue with my kwak track bike. Melted the tyre warmer where it was touching the mudguard. Looks like you have sorted it now.
