I have a 2000 748r and need a bit of advice as to what tyres to put on it. I need somthig that will warm up Fairley quick, i am not a mad rider but want to feel confident with the tyres
Also going to depend on what your local tyre stockist keeps or is prepared to get in or how far you are prepared to travel to find what you want. I fitted Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa BSBs to my 748sp, great grip but short lived. Ron Haslam is reported to use the new Bridgestone T30s on his school 600RRs for grip and lfe. MCN recently did an extensive article for 2013 which you should be able to read on-line. Andy
I have had the bike about 3 months and i have not ridden it yet. the tyres on it are a little tired and would like to replace them before i go out on it. Probably to late this year now but still need tyres all ready for next year.
Don't ridde a bike with tyres that are old / haven't been used in a long time,. they dgo off and you will end up on your ass. The T330's are great imo... http://ducatiforum.co.uk/f31/bridgestone-s20s-bridgestone-t30s-14090/ I will be switching to S20's for track days though.
I could'nt fault the new Bridgestone T30s when i did the Ron Haslam race school earlier this year
I agree with Android the SC BSB's are very short lived and BOTH go at the same time. Front and rear. You dont get 2 rears to one front like you do on other tyres. This makes them doubly expensive. Expect 3k mileage. Fantastic side grip when warmed up, but they really need warming and if its wet, be careful. I love them on my 1198 but they just wear out too quickly on the road. Fantastic track tyre though. I cant fault it other than they wear out too quickly. I'm putting Diablo Corsas on instead as they were fine on my 916. Great tyre. I hated 2CT's on my 916. Would let go a bit on the rear. Fave tyre on 916 were 207RR's. Loved those they just suited me. Liked Bridgestones when I had them on my 916 but they suffered from being before the 207rr's which i mourn the loss off.
ive just put the michellin pilot road 3s on my 748 and i think they are great for grip so far. confident tyres
I never went for them myself but a buddy has a set on his k5 and swears by them. He gets great mileage too commuting.
there brilliant mate, bit slippy in the wet though, but i very rarely go out in the wet there great on a hot day stick to the road like glue.
I've had the GP211's on my 748 as well. Great tyre for summer days, not so good in wet/winter and they dont last too long.
Anyone tried Metzler Racetech Interact K3s ? I understand that they are road legal and I'm guessing with the Pirelli/Metzler link, they could be SC BSB like. Andy
Very similar to the SC BSBs, a little more grippy if anything, I know plenty of people run them in fast group at trackdays.
K3 is endurance compound, very sticky compared to most road tyres but will not last too long. I ran K1 front K2 rear on my track bike and the grip level was incredible
