Tyres On A Supersport?

  1. How many miles are you getting out of the DIABLO Rossi 3 rear ?

Mine has done about 2700 miles and I should hopefully get to 3000 before it’s knackered.
Past Pirelli’s ( Supercorsas ) seem to go from being low to wire showing while out on a run.

Been quoted £130 fitted for another Rosso 3 or I can get a Rosso Corsa a little cheaper.

  2. My first rear lasted 4,135 miles. I changed the 2nd one at 7,315 miles (must have been riding harder :)). The original front tyre lasted 6,300 miles. The current rear has about 2,500 on it and looks good for another 1,000-1,500 miles. I may change to a pair of Michelin Road 5s when that wears out.

  3. Rear about 5500 miles, but I don't take them to the limit and I do mostly touring.

  4. In plea of mitigation Scottish roads are notoriously hard on tyres :(

  7. That’s what my Supercorsas did. We’re just on the side of legal going out ( sort of ) but within 150 miles the wire was showing.

Don’t know how you can get the Rosso to last 5500 miles, mine will be very lucky to reach 3000, at least on the first wear markers from centre.

  8. Yeap be warned.i checked my tyre pressures before leaving and was aware of the tread depth.i noticed the lack of tyre later in the day.

  9. Pirelli tyres just don’t seem to last long at all, I’ve had all sorts of tyres on my 899 ( done 24k Miles now ) and the Supersports ones don’t last 5 minutes.
The original Pirelli Rossi Corsa did about 2k Miles before the wires were showing through.
Then I tried Michelin Supersport Evos, got about 2.5k miles out of them.
Then the Evos were superseded by the Power RS, bought two of those mail order, I’d never had a puncture for about the last 10 years and both of the rear RSs punctured at around 2k miles with the tyre only about 70% worn, they would have done near to 3k miles if they hadn’t both punctured.
The carcass just didn’t seem strong enough on these tyres to resist any punctures, the last one punctured when I was in Scotland for a week, the bike tyre dealer I made it to had no 180/60 rear tyres in stock, so in desperation I fitted a 190/55 Michelin road 5....... and it’s been brilliant!!

More than enough grip for the road and awesome in the wet, my mate has them on his BMW S1000XR and he flys on them!
Tyre has done just over 2.5k miles now and still loads of tread left, easily another 2k Miles I would think.
Even the slight profile change didn’t make a jot of difference to the bike ( traction control, abs etc ) and it feels just the same handling wise to me.

Interestingly when you search the Pirelli website by bike (899) for tyres, as well as all the supersport tyres it also throws up the Angel GT2s , but in a 190/55 size , so it just shows that they are happy to spec that size for an 899.

I’m done with the soft supersport tyres for the road, these road 5s work great and give you decent mileage, try a pair, I doubt very much if you’d be disappointed.

    Hope this helps
