I know there are loads of threads about tyres on here, but I just need some help. What are the three main tyre makes for me to consider now I need to replace them on my Multistrada 1200s Touring?
most popular seem to be Michelin Pilot Road 3, but there are other good choices, I have Michelin Pilot Power 3 (no I don't really know difference but I think these are more focussed on a dry road and PR3 are focussed for wet road) also check the forum dedicated to tyres Tyres and http://ducatiforum.co.uk/f6/tyres-12327/ etc etc
Three main types: Pirelli scorpions as standard if your happy with them, Michelin pilot road 3 / pilot power if you want a sports tyre dunlop roadsmart / sportsmart also get good feedback from those that have tried them. I haven't heard anyone say they have tried a bad tyre, although a number of people have opinions on tyre wear. This is subjective as it depends on how you ride, where, and whether solo or loaded. Hope that helps.
So true. Don't forget to take your own brain into account too. I had a few bad Michelin experiences years ago, and though I am perfectly sure they make decent rubber, I cannot have it on any bike I've owned since. (even changing tyres on newly delivered bikes).
The only poor Michelins I ever experienced were Macadams, last for ever, zero grip.. New tyres being fitted Saturday morning, PR3s. Got nearly 2700 miles out of the Scorpions. Rear squared and looking generally a bit sorry, front worn to wear bars on sides. Only done a few hundred miles two up and most riding has been fast twisty roads. While grip was admirable before wear set in I am not impressed with mileage for what looks like a touring/trail riding type tyre.
Only if you'll look after me in my old age, when I get there that is  And no, you can't have all my toys !
Don't dismiss the new Pirelli Angel GT. Not tried them myself but they have had very good reviews from the journos and Ducati fit them as standard on the Granturismo.
