Hi,could anybody give me any suggestions on tyres for a 1098s as I've recently bought one after being Bikeless for a couple of years. Having picked it up last week about 35 miles away, I felt a bit nervy about cranking it over & thought it was probably due to lack of riding, however I've been out again today showing a bit more zealous but seem to have a bit of a confidence issue with the super corsa's. Do you feel I'll get over this in time, or has anybody got any alternatives I could consider. Pleasure riding with very occasional track day.
You'd be amazed what supercorsas can do. There were guys going round donnington last month in torrential conditions on them. first off I'd check the pressures, they could be out. Is the bikes suspension on stock settings or has it been altered to suit the previous owner? if you really don't like them there are loads out there, but it depends on what you do. I like Dunlop sportsmarts for the road nd have used to on track too. Currently on Dunlop d211 but I mainly use them in track or dry days. It really comes down to what you want. Road only tyre with occasional track use, fast road tyre, or road only with longevity.
Supercorsa are awesome tyres. Get the suspension set up properly and go from there. I use bridgestone s20 at the moment. Confidence inspiring and predictable. Soft to touch rubber so I don't think they will last as long as others but that's a sacrifice I don't mind making for the grip!
Thanks Guys, completely different last time out, it was warm & dry, followed my Pal for a couple of hours & half way through was a lot livelier through the twistes. The bike felt planted & once the Super corsa's warmed up they felt Ok. I've arranged to have suspension setup by Darren at MCT at Stowmarket in mid July & although I'm reasonably happy with the corsa's, I'll probably have a change to either pilot power3 or BT016 Pros, don't know if anyone's got any other comments. Want the tyres for brisk road riding & maybe a very occasional trackday
