Him and Asapha Powell failing drugs tests does bring into question how much drug use goes on in international athletics. Wonder if Mr Bolt is worried ?
So Froome (the very thin guy) won the Mont Ventoux stage today. Brilliant! But you can't help thinking about the Lance Armstrong comment that all the top cyclists are doped. Today's stage was the longest since 2000. It requires the riders to cycle 200 km, and then ride up a 2000m mountain in blistering heat, with no shade at race pace. It's totally inhuman. It would be inhuman in any case, but in their case, they would have raced the previous day, and will be expected to do it again on Tuesday. You'd need performance-enhancing drugs just to survive. If the TdeF wanted to be serious about anti-doping, they could stop making ludicrous demands on the competitors.
+1 it is still a level playing field ...albeit one that would probably glow in the dark lol... I love cycling and have competed and followed It since my early teens. but it is as rife today as ever
Saw a great documentary on the '88 Olympic 100M final. Out of the 8 runners in the final, all but one have been banned for substance abuse. Its still so competetive that if you dont use something, you'll get nowhere. The key is to stay one step ahead of the officials. Technically speaking a protein shake is substance abuse
I have used things like creatine and glutamine which are processed and wouldn't be available from food. It's only a level playing field if they drop this ridiculous attempt to prevent people using substances to enhance performance. Clearly, it is easily masked as Lance Armstrong proved for years. He's still a winner in my book as the rest of the field did the same thing.
