Just had custom ear plus made with speakers in by ultimate ear, very quick and simple process , obviously bloody expensive but very impressed , as one would expect really comfy, almost like they were made for me ;-) , great noise cancelling and crystal clear with Scala Q3 / Zumo 660. The scala is a revelation can ride at the speed limit and on a track above it and have intercom to following rider crystal clear even with in helmet speakers, listen to music and take phone calls. The intercom i would say is line of sight rather than a distance. the radio is good but i haven't mastered the RDS yet and keep retuning on 3 hr ride. All in all totally recommend the combination
Just got my scala g9x last week in preparation for euro trip in August. Was looking at these plugs myself. I already have a custom pair for shooting but they are fairly firm and extended duration with them in starts to hurt. Are the ultimate ones soft?
I have a set made by Puretone. They are a soft silicon with small spring clips internally moulded to hold the tiny speakers. Sound quality with an ipod is superb, but like the ones above, not cheap.
Isn't it a bit of a faff having to connect/disconnect the plugs to the Scala every time you put the lid on/off? And can you get uprated helmet-fit speakers for the Scala? I only ask as I'm thinking of upgrading from a Q2 (the RDS just doesn't work and the speakers rattle a bit if I play the music loud enough to overcome my earplugs).
