I bought my bike with Remus pipes and a big empty space under the pillion seat. So, a bit of nifty o`level metal work skills produced this I dropped one of the button head bolts and it vanished, as per the norm (still not found it). The cap head was temporary and has been replaced. Can`t tell it`s there. (I`ve since "tweeked" the exhaust bracket and seat unit mounts so they don`t touch) Not including construction and initial R&D it cost £5 for the aluminium sheet and a couple of quid for the fasteners. The box doesn`t touch the exhausts and after a 50 mile ride wasn`t hot to the touch. It might be different in the summer though, might be able to remove the rubber mat and fry my breakfast in there.
Love it, if only we could have something on a monoposto. Not having any storage is a serious pain in the ass. I had a 98 R1 until it was nicked last year and you could get a 4 pack of beer, your wallet and a pack of 3 under the seat. All a guy needs! I would add some of this to the underside of the box. Thanks for the link JC. Not quite the bottomless pit your R1 had under the seat but there is enough room for a disc lock and my gloves when I stop and park up. If it does get hot I can ditch the disc lock and just fry bacon on it while I`m riding, just need to find somewhere to store the bread buns then it`s bacon sarnies all round.
What a brilliant bit of kit well done, I miss the under seat storage I use to have on the Yamaha, why Ducati think we don’t need a small storage place is not a good idea IMO. Guvs.
