I saw this a while back and yet no mention of it in the news. If you Google it, it is on plenty of websites. Do you think at some point it will enforced onto motor bikes when we are all being forced to go electric? "All new vehicles sold in Europe – including the UK – will be fitted with a mandatory speed limiter from 2022 to keep cars within the UK speed limits and boost road safety." https://www.autotrader.co.uk/content/news/mandatory-speed-limiters-on-uk-cars-from-2022 "The speed limiter technology, called Intelligent Speed Assistant (ISA) uses GPS data and/or traffic-sign-recognition cameras to determine the maximum speed allowed in an area. The system then limits the engine’s power and the vehicle’s speed to that limit." looks like we will literally be followed everywhere.
I read something about it a while ago, non of the GPS data is shared with any government agencies, what data may be collected by manufacturers will be anonymised and the systems can be turned off I believe. My car already has systems which can if switched on limit speed to road signs, traffic etc and keep me in lane, obviously all switched off, however a 400 mile drive to Scotland a few months ago I let the car do it's thing and it was actually a relaxing stress free drive. No mention of bikes fortunately.
Anonymised data will be de-anonymised, and what govt. wants will be handed over. However, this is inevitable. The dystopian future is in progress. The Civil Service is Skynet and, with the technology of the last century, it's goal will have been full automation. What is achievable at the time will happen first: Gatso cameras, variable speed cameras, ANPR. It would be the utmost naivety to think that as soon as practicable we won't be speed-monitored continually; be monitored continually. It'll even get voted for once they say it's to combat terrorists, paedophiles and psychopathic cannabis addicts.
By the time it comes to that I'll be long gone... the future for cars/bikes just looks so bland and boring. Reminds me of iRobot and Minority Report.
Yeah, though it disturbs me to think 'thank God I won't be around to see it!' Edit to add that I predict that by 2050 new-borns will be microchipped.
