Undertank Heat Pad 848/1098/1198 Etc

  1. Whilst servicing my 1098 I removed the fuel tank and the heat pad beneath is in a poor way. The filling has deteriorated and some has fallen out. I was going to replace it with a new one but cannot source one so am thinking of removing it, velcro pads, and wrapping it with aluminium heat resistant tape. The tape is good to 180C.
Anyone else done this? Should be fine???

    Thanks

  2. The glue on the Velcro might melt? I remember on mine I tried putting heat tape that was supposed to be rated to 200 degrees on the inside of the exhaust heat shields and it basically caught fire, which wasn't great...

maybe just replace with Manufacturer original.

  3. Part no. 486 1 07 52A, £55.09 from your local authorised dealer. Described as Shield, Heat. Andy

  4. More so I'm finding that it's always worth a call to the official parts dealer first before going scavenging as parts tend to be fit for purpose and sometimes cheaper than after market
