996 Unexpected 996 Frame Number

  1. I was bored yesterday, so was Tinkering as you do
    And checked the frame number expecting to see zdm 996 etc
    But it’s zdm h200 aa wb ******
    Tried to decipher it on the web but can’t find anything
    Engine is zdm 996
    It matches the pdi paper work and log book so nothing dodgy
    Anyone come across anything like it

  5. Tried the decoder it says 1998 multistrada !!
    The MS thread doesn’t make sense to me unless you swop the order around

  8. LOL. Those are VIN numbers, I’m interested in engine numbers at present. The VIN numbering system was changed around 2001 to bring it up to the 17 digit standard. At the same time the engine capacity designation was dropped from the VIN (but remains on the engine).
