1200 DVT Usb C Charger On Handlebars…

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Martylaa, Aug 17, 2021.

  1. Does anyone have one of those plug in USB C they use on their Multi? If so are they any good and where did you get it from?
I’m wanting something I can plug into the socket near the bars so I can power my phone when it’s on the quad lock mount.

    Thanks.

  2. Quadlock’s wireless charging head works well, though admittedly pricey. Requires a standard USB socket to connect to, ideally 2.1 amps or higher.

  3. Thanks but wasn’t anticipating paying that price tbh.
Was thinking something like this, cheap and just plug into the socket near the handlebars then use a usb cable to the phone.

  5. Make sure there’s enough room not to foul against the fork yoke when on full lock.

  6. Ah good point mate.

  7. Yeah I was hoping someone had one and they could confirm they work ok tbh.

  9. Thanks mate, do you have one?

  10. This is the slot I was thinking on the Multi.

The charger in pic was from the car, obviously a size difference, hence looking at the one I showed earlier, hopefully it fits if I order one…

  11. Yes I've got a large collection of ridgemonkey gear, though I use the PD car adapter with my two power banks/vaults for items. Got a tank bag which is wired from a the DIN hella port you are showing. You would need a din hella to12v socket lead.

  12. Cool its okay at 28W but not power-delivery rating/fast-charging of 45W or the newer 60W standard. It'll do the job'

  13. Thanks, if it doesn’t do what I want i’ll look at the one you mentioned.
It’s basically for if I use google maps on the phone whilst I’m out then it’s just something to keep it charged so it doesn’t drain the battery on the ride.

  14. Did the usb plug work ok?

  15. I've i̶n̶v̶e̶s̶t̶e̶d̶ wasted a lot of $ on testing many of these DIN adapters with different sizes and angles. They're all too big.
Best solution I've found was to fish a USB cable that fits your device from back to front.

  16. Likewise. Don't bother. Even if the fit is ok (it often isn't), vibrations will rattle the whole thing until your charging cable or the DIN adapter disconnects . Really not practical.
Only reliable solution is to pass a long USB cable from under the seat.

  17. Since I don't use a sat nav I've wired a double usb to the handle bars from the accessory plug harness hidden under the l/h fairing to keep my phone topped up.
I'm planning on removing that DIN socket and wiring up some after market heated grips to it.
