V4 Used Prices

  1. I'm toying with the idea of trading my 1098 for a v4 panigale I've been offered for my bike plus 11k.
It has 98 miles on it
I know it's not of primary importance but is it likely to plummet and continue to plummet in price?
I'm only really buying it because I'm shallow and it looks cool. I don't do track days, it would be for dry weather commuting/fcuking about on.
    Am i mental?

  2. Not if you love the V4. I’d certainly not swap my 1098 for one because I just can’t handle the chunky looks, the V2 could persuade me one day though

  3. I don't really love the v4
I quite like it much as I quite like my 1098
I like the chunky look though

  4. No you are not. V4’s are though. Awesome bike to own.

  5. I think only you’ve got the answer then Flatty. I’m a bike tart, can only ride it if I like the look of it, hell the V4 may grow on me as newer Ducs tend to but I love my 1098 so it’s going nowhere yet. If you fancy the change, go for it. It’s still a Ducati superbike ain’t it?

  6. I think the 2020 model might knock prices of 2019 and earlier bikes. I notice a few dealers still have brand new 2019bikes on the showroom floor.

  7. I think this is correct. Chatting to the GM of a dealer before Xmas he reckons Ducati will “upgrade” models yearly from now on, like the car guys. If correct, thats not great news IMHO.

  8. Unless you want a bike at 2yrs old and at half the original price

  9. That values your 1098 at about £4k which is ridiculous. IMO mind, I think you are being stiffed as the value of the V4 currently appears to be in free fall and dealers are inundated with them. 1098s however don’t seem to remain the showroom for very long at all. IF you want a change, again IMO, their offer needs to be substantially better. Andy

  10. Have you been to see it and if you did, did you get the fizz? By the sounds of it, I don't think you did. Else this post would be 'Bloody hell I've put a deposit down'.

  11. The 2020 model would seem to be a decent upgrade on the 2019 bikes. The fact there are so many s/h bikes on the market is not going to do future values any favours.

I would check insurance quotes too and use it as a bargaining tool if needs be.

  12. The v4 is a pig ugly looking bike. The v4s at least puts a bit of lipstick on. You could always get the v4, then speak to evoboy who could vinyl it or wrap parts

  13. Fuck it, just do it. I've got a 1098R, the maddest baddest of 1098's. Amazing bike in it's own right. But the V4S is a quantum leap in all departments. As you'd expect as it's 10 years younger. The 1098 is raw and twitchy, virtually no electronics and bonkers shove. The V4S is warp speed fast, fantastic brakes and superp electronics package (Evo2 upgrade). Different animals but equally thrilling.

  14. Everyone's gonna take a bath with a new mass produced superbike. Nothing new there. It's the price you pay I'm afraid for knowing it's history from day 1.
Impressive savings to be made buying a 2 year old but unless you know the person your buying it off you'll never know it's history.

  15. I don't think anyone can expect to pay £20k+ on a new motorbike and not expect to take a massive drop in value over the first few years.

I do think the number of 1000cc sportsbikes on ebay though tells a story that maybe the market on these machines is very very small these days.

  16. And yet they do expect it on 899/959 models. It seems to be the one that, more than others, people ask lots for. Buy for 2k, run for 4 years, sell for 9k. Bonkers.

I’m guessing it’s popularity keeps prices inflated, or at least asking prices. Whereas a v4 or 1299 comes with big insurance and a smaller pool of potentials

  17. What do you mean by massive though?
The one I'm looking at /been offered us around 17k with about a hundred miles on, and as new. Despite this, iirc, its only about a grand less than rrp, which is a negligible drop in my honest opinion ?

  18. Should ask what they gave matey for it :mask:, they'll have 3k in that bike.

  19. 30% year 1 as a trade in. Minimum. There are loads on v4s at similar money to that. Sounds expensive

  20. The
    How dja mean mate?
