  1. just wondered if there is one? i'll be (hopefully) buying my first ducati in a few weeks but I want to have a Haynes manual at hand. however I can't find one for the 999...

    anyone able to advise?

  2. Do you have a pdf Rob of the service manual?

  3. Haynes manuals may not be perfect but they are extremely useful. When I contacted Haynes to see if there is one in the pipeline, I was told that they have no immediate plans but if they get lots of demand they will consider it.
Can I suggest everybody contacts Haynes asking for a 999 manual???

  4. Why would Haynes do a manual for a bike then ended production 8-9 years ago plus there is not exactly 1000's of 999/749 out there to justify Haynes even doing an manual. Just use the workshop manual I have just posted a link to, 999's are really easy to work on and everyone has access to the internet to ask question should they get stuck

  6. I had both a workshop manual and a Haynes for the SS I had. It was really useful to be able to read both when tackling a job and the Haynes often had useful alternative methods, such as how to get around not having a particular special tool.
Haynes manuals are written with the home mechanic in mind, workshop manuals are written for professional mechanics.
Also, the Haynes was originally written in English, so nothing was lost in translation. Not the case with the workshop manual. Even though I'm not a great linguist, I found I sometimes needed to read the other language versions in order to work out what was meant in the poorly translated English version.

To be fair, although I do have an electronic version of the workshop manual for my 999, I've not actually felt the need to consult it much, so I can't really say how good the translation is.

Imho, it's the older bikes that need a Haynes manual. Newer ones are more likely to be getting dealer servicing lavished on them.
Of course, Haynes manuals are written and published in order to make a profit for the publishers, not simply as a resource, so they would need to be sure of a reasonable level of demand.
However, if they were to publish one, I'm not too proud to say that I would definitely buy a copy.

  7. Sorry, I never picked up on this.

It looks like Mr C. came to the rescue. If not, give me a nudge. :upyeah:

  8. You may find what you want here . Ducati

  9. i have one , on disc, i dont even know how to view it, but i iam sure if i needed to i could get someone to help me down load and print out relevant pages to take down to the shed / workshop ..

  10. thanks guys. I wanted it in preparation for when I get my bike, I was very close to sealing the deal on a 999 but it had been tracked and speaking to a few people who know the ducati much better than me I was told it needed a good couple of grand on it to get it looking mint again. it was a non seller on ebay at 3k so I thought it was an absolute steal, having looked closer its an absolute dog. i'm hoping to get a 749 instead in the next few weeks, with all the trouble my kwak has had lately I've decided better to get a tidy 749 for the money than a dog rough 999. I could always do an engine conversion in a year or so if I find I'm bored of it lol...however I reckon the 749 will be more than capable of what I want out of it. had an nc750 twin as a hire bike about a month ago and the power delivery of a twin is definitely more fun and more accessible :D. always like to have a manual though, first thing I might do Is the quiet clutch mod lol

  11. I have a disc too, there are hundreds of pages, I gave it to one of the girls in the office to print for me and she even binded it up in the different sections.
