The OBDstar Unit I purchased has been fantastic so far. Im wondering if a more experienced user can help me program a new key fob I have purchased. I hook up the OBD star and get through all the menus to program a new key fob, but when it says place the new key fob you want to program near the sensor, it doesn't seem to pick up the new key fob I have bought. Any ideas? Do I have to press the reset button on the key fob in a specific way? Or perhaps it's like the older model 1200S (11) I had, where the red key would only get recognised under the clocks. Is there a specific place I should be putting the fob? I have been putting it on top of the emergency start button under the black cover that says recovery. Thanks
Yes, item #7 here, note it's location above the DIN socket. On later Multis, such as the 1260, there's a little RFID symbol moulded into the black plastic.
Fairly simple process: Plug in the OBDstar, go to diagnostics, read the vin automatically, press Ducati, press enter once it identifies your bike correctly. Press smart key function, then program a smart key (you must keep the working key nearby in order to enter this process) then enter the password 123 on the display. Once you are in it will say on the screen to put the new key near the antenna (to the right hand side of the clocks above the power outlet). It will the detect your new key and say to pull the key away. Hey Presto, that's it, you'll need to end the process and it will give you a summary of how many keys were programmed. Hope it helps! If anybody needs help in the future that only an OBDstar car fix, I'm more than happy to have visitors here in SW London.
