V4 V4 Rally Back Tyre Thickness

  1. Hello all, first post here. Picking up a new V4 Rally soon and will be doing a trip to the continent shortly after. I'm looking to get a Litelok X3 Moto , it's a type of D lock. The internal dimensions are 100mm x 195mm. The Bennetts review said it would not go over all back wheels. Can someone with a Rally check the thickness of the rim/tyre to see if it has 100mm of clearance for the D lock in question. I know I could likely get it in between the spokes but I would rather have it going over the rim/tyre.

  2. Back tyre is a 170 which is 170mm wide and the depth to the inner rim (centre) is between 120 and 130mm so the lock should fit easily.

interested to know your thoughts on the lock if you get one, particularly on ease of carrying on the bike.

  3. @Flappytabs - Thanks for the info. If the thickness is 120 to 130 then the lock is not going to fit over. Its 195mm deep but is only 100 wide. Guess if I go with it I might be able to get it in between the spokes above the rear disc.

  4. Ahh, I assumed the 195 was the width between the bars, but thinking logically this would make it massive.

Looking at the back wheel I would suggest between the spokes is the only real option. You may be able to pass through discs and spokes on the front

  5. Just had a look on line at these, curious only. At that price it is not much more for a Roadlok. You basically just end up carrying a spring loaded pin and a key. Brilliant kit.

  6. That's very thoughtfull of you @Ducbird... now only if you had a time machine and can pop me back a week so I could have used the discount when I ordered it. I have a red one right here on my desk, it's the first thing going on the bike. Very good experiance with the Roadlok team. Looks like a fab product and am more than happy to support by paying full price.

  7. I bought the Litelok x1 Moto. It is a top bit of kit and will fit through the spokes and disc or spokes and chain sprocket (much messier).
