I'd say no, but you wouldn't believe what some would pass off as acceptable. Surely the dealer will have that replaced FOC?
That looks like it has been made out of 50% TPE and 50% Power Station Ash - appalling quality, I guess it comes from Ohlin's as an assembly to the factory...
Probably as specified / chosen by Ducati in order to reduce costs and improve margin on the 'premium' motorcycles they produce
My leccy Ohlins connectors did the same on my Multistrada. You couldn’t get that bit separately as it was moulded into the fork tops. Crap design.
It's not come into contact with a chemical ?? Brake fluid etc. A bit of electrical tape should do it though.......... ;-)
On the Multistrada it was just cheap material. Looked at lots of them over the years. Pani Tricolore too. Common on both.
No chemicals , so I'll add it to the list such as clutch lever reacher adjuster being seized, clutch play when cold etc, at yet this is my favourite bike by far but hate all niggles.
You can wrap the connectors in masking tape and spray a weak solution of shampoo/water onto the wires. Heat the rubber boots for a few mins and you should be able to stretch the boots over the damaged connectors or if they are really perished cut the boots off. The rubber boots themselves are cheap and easy to source (try www.kojaycat.co.uk) and replace as per the removal procedure. PS if you place the new boots in a bowl of boiling water it will make them much easier to replace and pass over the connectors. Failing that you can buy a pin removal tool to allow you to detach the pins from the plastic connector, which should afford you enough space to pass the wires throug the new rubber boot, then re-insert them back into the connector.
