V4 V4s Throttle Response

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Jewell, Apr 6, 2020.

  1. Fellow fudge packers

So my V4S, I don’t ride it much but when I do, the throttle movement is around one inch before it actually engages the engine.

To say it’s pissing me off, is an understatement.

It’s currently on Sport mode, Dynamic power setting, not smooth.

How do I resolve this, please?

    Cheers ears

  2. One inch!!??
    Get a new ruler!

Alternatively, throttle spacers kit. Google it.

  4. DUCATI spacers, that’s what you need. My panigale v2 had loads of movement also and these were well worth the £25, have transformed it

  5. Yeah I’ve fitted these, single best thing I’ve bought for the bike.
They are massively over priced but worth twice the cost!

  6. Throttle spacers certainly pick up the slack in the tube, But it won’t get rid of that feeling of 10mm movement before you set off! All Pani’s seem to do this! perhaps somebody has the answer? @nelly would be a good start! Please please can I have some throttle cables back! So much easier ;)

  7. Mine is solid, zero slack at all and the slightest movement gets the revs going. Did you put them on the wrong side of the bike?! :p

  8. They only go one way! mines also solid with zero movement in the tube. But you still get the delay when setting off from a standstill. That’s built in to the electronics as far as I know and can’t be improved on.

  9. Be warned though, that with Euro4/Euro5 bikes, the 'snatch' which many consider to be a little like the first fuel injection systems is generally considered to be due to the bikes running as lean as they can possibly get away with on small throttle openings to pass emission testing.

I had my 848 Re-mapped by MR years ago, and even then Wilf told me that the Lambda will cycle through continually leaner maps on partial throttle to try and reduce fuel use, his advise, turn off the O2 sensors and run a static map to stop the 'Auto-Lean' and then it will be happier and more consistent.

In my view Up-Mapped Ducati's have always been a heap better on partial throttle, my latest 848 with standard Ducati UPMAP ECU was like butter coming on and off the throttle but it did stink a bit of fuel and popped and banged a lot, indicating probably it was rich if anything.

I'm actually tempted to get the Akrapovics for my Panigale V2 next summer for this very reason, it's okay, but I think a proper map helps so much.

  10. never noticed that, I’m riding to work tomorrow so will see if I can notice it!

  11. I got the akras for the V2 and the upmap that goes with it.
It still has that on/off feeling on initial throttle input.

Very noticeable in slower roundabouts modulating the throttle with cars ahead of you.

Im guessing only a full on mapping on dyno will solve that.

  12. Throttle spacers -£25
    Heat shrink - 25p
    End result - same

  13. Test rode a streetfighter v4s yesterday and found the low throttle opening / fuelling very poor. Felt hesitant, snatchy and like it was hunting.

I had expected the v4 to be buttery smooth compared to my 1299 but it was probably worse at low revs.

Definitely reckon it's euro5 emissions as test rode a Pani v4 when they first came out and dont remember that having poor low speed fuelling.

Jumped on my speed triple for the ride home and despite also being ride by wire, it felt like it was a well set up cable operated set of carbs and showed how it should be.

  14. A bit of foam will do. You don’t need to spend £25 on plastic. Getting it dynod and remapped along with eliminating the slack made my 959 superb. Before that it was awful.
