Had a service done on 70 plate v4s (3.5k miles)and they discovered that the rear wheel bearing had quite a bit of play in it. Fixed under warranty so no problem, just wondering if any others have had issues at such a low mileage
Not the first time a failed wheel bearing has been reported in recent times. A mass produced, bought in component, manufactured to a budget which, whilst annoying, a very small failure rate can be anticipated. Andy
I had the chance to inspect the bearings in a spare set of wheels I was having powder coated (gold) and the issue appeared to be the external seals not having any grease applied (at assembly?) and holding water against the bearing seals which under use became ingested into the bearing races . The external seals inner springs had turned to a rusted mess adding to the grief the bearing seals were suffering. Ending up with rusty balls.
