Hi Everyone I can’t wait for Thursday to come so I can take delivery of my new Multistrada. I have continuously owned at least one bike at a time since my sixteenth birthday. When I was 19 or 20 my best mate had a Vincent Rapide 1000cc V twin which I was allowed to ride quite often, the feeling of its high torque, offbeat power delivery, 100MPH at 4600RPM and a huge 5 inch diameter speedo left a lasting impression. I took early retirement at 60 from my job as a signal engineer on London Underground in 2012 with a plan to do some touring on a BMW R100RS, I can honestly say that this was the worst bike I have ever owned with the exception of a new Honda CB750K2 in 1975, both bikes were reliable, Boring and handled badly. In my search for something to replace the BMW I called into Pro Twins Ducati to look at the multistrada. After a short test ride memories of that Vincent came flooding back and my mind was made up so here we are two days before the handover and at the beginning of summer. Happy days!!! Regards John
Welcome and well done John, not a bike I've ridden but has an extreme following on here, isn't it great when you can actually own something that brings genuine memories to life, Thx, Andy
It is at 64 ! Ten Minute John is a handle I was given by friends who wanted help as my normal response was "It's a ten minute job" Probably wishful thinking now!
You should probably buy an older Ducati, being a former LUL employee you'd be familiar with the pattern of it not working at the most inconvenient moments and having to make alternative arrangements to get anywhere
I have eight older bikes just thought I would try a new one I was never inconvenienced by failures on the underground I was always at home when it broke
