848 Ventura Rack On A 2013 848?

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by Ozz, May 3, 2014.

  1. Getting ready for the Isle of Man trip and was looking at putting a Ventura rack that my friend gave me (he had it on a 1098S) on the 848.

Quick look and it doesnt look like it will fit - certainly not with the Akra pipes on anyway.

Has anyone got one on a 2013 or 2012 848? Ventura only show 848 up to 2011 when it became an Evo....

Also anyone got some instructions in pdf? They dont have them for download on the Ventura site....

  2. Have you got the long hexagonal extenders that replace the exhaust hanger bolts? I have one fitted on my 1198 with Akras at the moment. Once the extenders are installed then the L brackets bolt onto the front pillion peg mount (use the spacers if the pegs are in place). The rear bolts into the hex extender.

You may have to modify the rear bolt tubes as the Akra carbon hangers are thicker than the stock ones. This pushes the rack mounting points further apart. It's a measure and hacksaw job. If you take too much off then you can pack out with washers to get the gap right.

  3. Yep got the extenders and hopefully all bits.

I think I'll have to undo the akra and have a fiddle. I just had a quick look whilst putting a USB cable on today while I had a moment!

  4. You only need to remove the hanger bolt on each side and replace with the extenders.

  8. All fitted no problem. I'll pop some piccies up later....

An old tank bag I bought years ago fits perfectly on the rack too so that was a bonus...

  9. happy days....

  11. If you don't carry a pillion try spinning the rack around to lessen the lever effect on the l-brackets.

  12. Thanks for that I'll try it...

  13. Thats the job, cargo net will keep the bag stable.

  14. Found one of them in the garage earlier.... ;-)

  15. If you do spin it round (which is what Ventura recomend when not carrying a passenger) be careful my rack touches the cover of the seat. When I use the rack I fit the passenger cover
