I've just put this on my bike (which was bought used, but in excellent condition). I previously put it on a Monster I had from new. I think it's most useful for the really vulnerable areas (tank sides, and areas that would normally stone chip). It's not cheap, it's a bit fiddly to apply, but it is near-invisible once in place, and does offer excellent protection. I've heard of bikes fall over and not suffer paint damage due to VentureShield.
Had it on mine at first. Ended up pulling it off after a while as it started looking a bit crap around the edges after I'd put a few miles on it.... only person it benefits in my eyes is the next owner after you if you sell. Don't think I'd bother again
Lewis, There's a guy in Solihull who does it. I popped down to his workshop and he's got all the 1198/1098/848 designs. He worked for the original company that invented the material and the tooling. I was hoping to get mine done before I take her out this season. - Mark
Mark, is it Tony james designs by any chance? I've seen his work and its really good, also a grate service. must meet up again soon if your not stuck in an airport lol lew
I fitted ventureshiled to my panigale when I got it last year, its great for saving the paint work on my tank, I'm a short fat bloke that sits right close to the tank and found on my last bike a fireblade that I was rubbing through the paint on the tank.
I have fitted a few kits, the curves of a Panigale are a bit of a pig to do. It does stop 99% of stone chips and is great if you fit a couple of strips on the fork stanchions as they always seem to attract stone chips. You are best off fitting it dry to these though. A few people that have tried to do it themselves have ended up rolling it in a ball and chucking it in the bin so you have to be patient and make sure you completely soak the panel, the film and your fingers before use or it will go tits up.
We'll I had it fitted today and I can say I'm really pleased with the quality. The fit is perfect and it's barely visible. I had it fitted by tony James designs (Solihull west mids) who specialise in the venture shield. I was told black is one of the worst colours to have it on but I can honestly say it's almost invisible. For most of you who have red bikes the camouflage is even better. Charged me 70 pounds all in, that's complete front fender including lights and vents and down the sides of both side fairings. Take a look at the photos....
No you have to use a none based Petroleum product. The guy recommend "rejex" and he said it would do the job and I must say it did clean it very well and has made the paint pop into a shine ompus:
