So lots of cars stuck in flood water at the moment, is there a published wading depth for the Multistradas (all/any models) anywhere? I know the air inlet is on top of the engine on my 1200 Enduro, assume it's in the same place on all the later twins. Not planning on going through deep water of course but would be good to know.
I have a couple of ford crossings on routes locally and when they are in full flow but passable, I’m lifting my feet off the pegs to avoid submerging my boots. Not sure I’d want to go any deeper. Pretty sure going through fords was a contributory factor to the horizontal cylinder barrel wear that led to an engine rebuild at 32,000 miles. Andy
Harsh! But true. Though one of them was able to carry on smoking a roll up whist buggering about in the river which isn't as easy as some might think....
The main issue with travelling through flood waters is the unseen obstacles. Both those that are always there but become invisible and those that are washed there by the water. In addition flood waters are often very fast moving close to original channel but appear almost static by the edges adding to the dangers. My job involves flood response and we work closely with the fire brigade who continually have to rescue muppets that don’t seem able to follow the simple guidance of don’t drive into flood water.
